Mayor Mamdani and President Trump plan to meet in Gracie Mansion Monday, as world leaders gather in New York for the United Nations General Assembly \u2014 marking the latest episode in the unusually friendly odd-couple relationship<\/a> between the two polar-opposite pols.<\/p>\n

City Hall confirmed the meeting Sunday, saying in a statement, \u201cThe meeting will focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Mamdani\u2019s primary win last June, the president blasted him as a \u201c100% Communist Lunatic\u201d in a Truth Social post. But since Mamdani took office, the two men have mostly publicly gotten along.<\/p>\n

\u201cI speak to him a lot,\u201d the president said at this year\u2019s State of the Union address. \u201cBad policy, but nice guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, Mamdani presented Trump with a charm-offensive pitch to build 12,000 housing units in New York City at a White House sit-down, posing with a grinning Trump as he clutched a mock Daily News front page given to him by the mayor.<\/a><\/p>\n

The paper, which read, \u201cTrump to City: Let\u2019s Build,\u201d was a play on The News\u2019 iconic \u201cFord to City: Drop Dead\u201d front page from 1975.<\/p>\n
