A persistent mist fell over the MetLife Stadium crowd as the Jets battled the Green Bay Packers into overtime, but ultimately lost, 20-17.<\/p>\n
The Jets won the overtime coin toss and elected to receive, but the Green & White lost 15 yards after QB Geno Smith was sacked on back-to-back plays. Austin McNamara<\/a> fired a 56-yard punt, and the Packers took over at the Green Bay 34.<\/p>\n QB Jordan Love connected with RB Chris Brooks for 15 yards, and an unnecessary roughness call on the defense pushed the Packers an additional 15 yards up field. Green Bay was close enough to attempt a 26-yard field goal with 5:23 left in overtime to win the game.<\/p>\n The Packers scored\u00a010 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Their\u00a0offensive push\u00a0started with Skyy Moore’s 63-yard punt return, which helped tie the game at 17 with 34-yard field goal after WR Christian Watson scored a TD on Green Bay’s previous possession.<\/p>\n The Jets only had three minutes and two timeouts to work with to try and win in regulation but turned the ball over on downs after Braelon Allen<\/a>‘s fourth-and-1 rush was short of the first down.<\/p>\n The Jets defense prevented the Packers from scoring in the final seconds of regulation with Kingsley Enagbare<\/a> sacking Love as the clock ran out.<\/p>\n Throughout the game, the Jets defense relentlessly attacked the football and forced 4 fumbles. The first three weren’t recovered by the Green & White, but three minutes into the fourth quarter DT Harrison Phillips<\/a> came out from under the pile holding a ball that Enagbare punched out and sent the crowd into a frenzy. The Jets added three points, with a 32-yard field goal, and took a 10-point lead.<\/p>\n That defensive momentum helped carry the Jets through a slow offensive start; however, penalties were extremely costly on both sides with each team having well over 100 penalty yards. At times, defensive pass interference calls helped each team push their offense down field.<\/p>\n
