victory over the Titans.<\/a><\/p>\nThere were so many mistakes that Glenn said he was \u201chighly upset.\u201d<\/p>\n
Special teams, the Jets\u2019 strongest unit a season ago, also struggled. Isaiah Williams muffed two early punts, though the Jets recovered both and avoided disaster. Special teams penalties cost them favorable field position, too.<\/p>\n
Then, in overtime, Jarvis Brownlee Jr.\u2019s unnecessary roughness penalty helped set up Trey Smack\u2019s game-winning 26-yard field goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt can\u2019t happen,\u201d Glenn said. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s anything that he doesn\u2019t know, it can\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can\u2019t let our emotions get the best of us in a situation like that because every opportunity, we get a chance in that situation to do what\u2019s right to try and win the game, we have to make sure we do. And that was one of the decisions that we didn\u2019t make the right decision right there.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ground game that carried the Jets past the Titans offered little help. They finished with 67 rushing yards, and neither Breece Hall nor Braelon Allen could get going against a stout Packers front.<\/p>\n
The clearest example came late in the fourth quarter. With the score tied at 17 and two minutes remaining, Hall was stopped short on third-and-2 from the Jets\u2019 49-yard line. Glenn went for it on fourth-and-1 near midfield, but Allen was stopped, giving Green Bay the ball in Jets territory.<\/p>\n
The Packers failed to capitalize in regulation. They got another chance in overtime and made it count.<\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially for the offense, it hurts,\u201d Hall said. \u201cI feel like we could have helped the defense out a little more and showed them a little more love by putting a few more points on the board for them to be a little more comfortable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think offensively, we let the defense down big time, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Jets have improved. A year ago, they were already 0-2 on their way to an 0-7 start that effectively ended their season by Halloween. Their defense looks more aggressive with Glenn calling plays, blitzing more often and creating more chances for takeaways.<\/p>\n
But a young roster, even one with veterans such as Geno Smith, Demario Davis and Minkah Fitzpatrick, still has to learn how to finish games like this one. The road won\u2019t get easier with the Lions and Bears up next, and the loss will do little to quiet Glenn\u2019s critics.<\/p>\n
A win Sunday would have given the Jets their first 2-0 start since 2015 and a reason to believe their Week 1 performance was the start of something bigger. Instead, they gave away a 10-point lead, a chance to beat a contender and much of the momentum they brought home from Tennessee.<\/p>\n
The Jets looked ready to make a statement. By the end, they were left explaining another collapse.<\/p>\n
\u201cDouble D [Davis] said it best when you\u2019re talking about how you respond to adversity,\u201d Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell said. \u201cYou can either change the mind or your mindset and it just goes back to our preparation.<\/p>\n
