But it’s also spacious: a work-from-home station plus separate living and dining areas all seem pretty feasible. (If you really need another room, the listing suggests that there’s enough square footage to carve one out.) The views from the bedrooms appear to be less exciting, and only one has closets, but there’s enough space in each for a king-size mattress. The windowed renovated kitchen is roomy, with a washer-dryer. The monthlies are $1,459, which get you only the basics and a bike room. You’re right across the street from the park’s Parade Ground for pickup soccer games, a five-minute walk from Wheated for a seriously good pesto pizza, and an eight-minute walk from the Church Avenue B and Q stop.

55 East 65th Street, Apt. 6B

The kitchen’s red cabinetry, as seen in this listing photo, is just some of the bold décor throughout in this Lenox Hill one-bedroom.
Photo: Compass

This one-bedroom is another case where the proximity to green space is a selling point — you’d be just two blocks from Central Park. But we also couldn’t resist the décor and fixtures that are, let’s say, bold (a distraction from the views, which are far from dazzling). The living-dining area skews kinda-sorta gilded age with a prosciutto-marble wood-burning fireplace and patina mirrors sandwiched by built-ins, whereas the matchbox-size kitchen’s renovation feels more modern, with a good amount of candy-apple-red cabinetry and stainless-steel appliances. You can fit a king-size mattress in the bedroom, right on top of the snow-leopard-pattern carpet. It all makes the bathroom, which is merely white marble with a walk-in shower, seem pretty restrained.

843 43rd Street, Apt. 7

This two-bedroom apartment’s living area, as seen in this listing photo, feels particularly airy thanks to the French doors.
Photo: Corcoran

Nice space and air in this two-bedroom in Sunset Park’s Finnish Co-ops, where the eat-in windowed kitchen has been zhuzhed up with butcher block and a mint-green fridge. The living room feels particularly open thanks to the French doors, and you can easily fit a couch and round dining table in there. There are leafy views from the bedrooms and plenty of room to stretch out, and the windowed bathroom feels classic with the cast-iron soaking tub. Monthlies, which get you a live-in super, more laundry in the basement, and a private storage unit, are notably low at $1,094, probably because the co-op is self-managed. (The enclave was built in the 1920s, intended to echo the look of an Old English village.) The listing here is for two one-bedrooms on separate floors that, with board approval and a stomach for renovations, you can turn into a three-bedroom duplex. (Although, as my colleague Kim Velsey points out, at least one of those rooms will have a spiral staircase running right through it.) Compass’s Danielle Sevier, who has the listing, chalks up the low price to the fact that the apartments themselves are quite small — the living rooms alone are just 10-by-12 feet — and that even if you weren’t planning to combine them, they need some work. But if you’re game for bi-level living in a storybook enclave, this is probably it. It’s $2,792 for the monthly maintenance, and that’ll get you a live-in super, a bike room, and a storage cage.

Sign Up for the Curbed Newsletter

A daily mix of stories about cities, city life, and our always evolving neighborhoods and skylines.

Vox Media, LLC Terms and Privacy Notice

By submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice and to receive email correspondence from us.

See All

This two-bedroom, as seen in this listing photo, leans hard into its Prospect Park proximity with five north-facing…

[35
433,75,84,83,86506,9,24,7865,63,1491,461,463
post-352384","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-manhattan","tag-affordable-housing","tag-manhattan","tag-manhattan-headlines","tag-manhattan-news","tag-moving-month","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-new-york-real-estate","tag-nyc","tag-real-estate","tag-the-real-estate","tag-under-a-million
["GET
