{"id":352636,"date":"2026-09-21T18:00:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-21T18:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/352636\/"},"modified":"2026-09-21T18:00:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T18:00:11","slug":"wrong-way-hit-and-run-driver-kills-senior-in-the-bronx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/352636\/","title":{"rendered":"Wrong way hit-and-run driver kills senior in the Bronx"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"845\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1790013611_179_unnamed-18.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"crime scene tape after cop shot at catalytic converter thieves in Staten Island\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"   title=\"Wrong way hit-and-run driver kills senior in the Bronx 1\"\/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Crime Scene tape.<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Dean Moses<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Police say they are looking for a wrong-way driver who struck and killed a senior in the <a href=\"https:\/\/amny.com\/bronx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bronx<\/a> early Monday morning.\n<\/p>\n<p>According to NYPD sources, the fatal collision took place at around 5:55 a.m. on Sept. 21 at the corner of Park Avenue and East Tremont Avenue.\n<\/p>\n<p>Cops say the driver of an unknown white vehicle was traveling northbound on Park Avenue in the southbound lane approaching East Tremont Avenue when he struck an elderly man in his 70s attempting to cross the street.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said the male pedestrian was sent hurtling to the ground from the intersection and suffered injuries throughout his body. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and remains on the run.<\/p>\n<p>Officers from the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypd48pct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">48th Precinct<\/a> responded to the scene along with EMS, who pronounced the victim dead. Police have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.\n<\/p>\n<p>This comes on the heels of several fatal collisions in New York. On Friday, a 15-year-old girl <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/news\/east-village-citi-bike-teen-struck-truck-driver\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was struck and killed by a truck driver in the East Village<\/a>. On Sept. 13, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/news\/woman-killed-harlem-hit-and-run-09132026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in Harlem<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding the Bronx hit-and-run can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).
