Photo by Gus Saltonstall.<\/p>\n<p>By Gus Saltonstall<\/p>\n<p>Sweetgreen, the popular fast-casual salad and bowl chain, has permanently closed its location at 311 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 74th and 75th streets, according to signage on the storefront.<\/p>\n<p>The closure comes around three weeks after <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westsiderag.com\/2026\/08\/26\/upper-west-side-sweetgreen-closed-due-to-cockroaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the New York City Health Department temporarily shuttered the outpost<\/a> for \u201clive roaches in the facility\u2019s food or non-food area,\u201d the report at the time read. The location reopened a couple of days later.<\/p>\n<p>The Sweetgreen signage on the Upper West Side storefront has already come down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks for eating with us,\u201d a message on the front door had read. \u201cWe\u2019re now closed, but you can find us on 67th and Columbus.\u201d The Sweetgreen location referenced is at 159 Columbus Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday night, West Side Rag saw Sweetgreen employees hugging outside of the store. \u201cIt was a good one,\u201d a person walking by said to one of the staff members.<\/p>\n<p>Sweetgreen did not announce its specific reason for closing the UWS location.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribe to West Side Rag\u2019s FREE email newsletter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/westsiderag.us6.list-manage.com\/subscribe?u=5772ebf2a0a585445f1188785&amp;id=f50755d5f9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.
