Securing NY’s role at the forefront of aerospace innovation, State of New York commits an additional $8.4M to support transformational project<\/p>\n
NISKAYUNA, N.Y. \u2014 September 21, 2026 \u2014 GE Aerospace today announced a $225 million investment to modernize the GE Aerospace Research Center in Niskayuna, NY, advancing the site’s legacy as the innovation engine behind breakthroughs in aviation advancements. The State of New York has also committed $8.4 million in tax credits through Empire State Development (ESD) to the project, with Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority contributing additional local incentives valued at $5.3 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For more than 75 years, the GE Aerospace Research Center has served as a premier technology development hub. Today, it is the engine powering GE Aerospace’s next generation breakthroughs across AI, autonomy, robotics, advanced materials, future manufacturing, hypersonic propulsion, and hybrid electric flight.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The combined investments will:<\/p>\n
Modernize the Niskayuna site\u00a0to strengthen GE Aerospace’s research capacity, with approximately two-thirds going toward infrastructure improvements and the remainder dedicated to advanced research equipment and technology.\u00a0Create 75 new full-time, high-paying jobs\u00a0over five years, generate short-term construction employment, and safeguard the future of the scientists, engineers, researchers, and skilled laborers who already call Niskayuna home. The new positions will include a mix of research and engineering roles and trade positions.Support execution of advanced technology projects with partners in both academia and the federal sector, particularly Department of Energy and Department of War projects funded through Congressional appropriations.<\/p>\n
GE Aerospace expects to begin site improvement projects immediately, and research operations at Niskayuna will continue with minimal disruption throughout construction.\u00a0<\/p>\n
