NBC began as a radio company, launching its very first broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>Television would not come around for the National Broadcasting Company for another 13 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe history of NBC is really the history of how Americans have watched, listened, laughed and enjoyed some of history\u2019s most important moments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can go back in time for those moments at The Paley Museum in Midtown for the exhibition, \u201cNBC100: A Century Together,\u201d\u00a0Maureen Reidy, president and CEO at The Paley Museum, said.<\/p>\n<p>It looks at the Peacock network\u2019s early days in radio and TV, including the sports, news and late night shows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s over 75 artifacts and costumes and set pieces and show memorabilia. We have the Joey \u2018many layers\u2019 costume from \u2018Friends,\u2019 we have the EGOT necklace that Tracy Morgan wore in \u201830 Rock\u2019 and from \u2018Saturday Night Live,\u2019 we have the \u2018Coneheads,\u2019\u201d Reidy said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/_Roger_DNT_Paley_NBC_100_CLEAN_1_.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"hashed-image image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-hundred\" loading=\"lazy\" img-data-caption=\"(Spectrum News NY1)\" img-data-wrap-text=\"true\" img-data-editing=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>(Spectrum News NY1)<\/p>\n<p>Reidy noted the suits worn by Steve Martin and Dan Akroyd as \u201ctwo wild and crazy guys\u201d are also on display.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/_Roger_DNT_Paley_NBC_100_CLEAN_2_.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"hashed-image image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-hundred\" loading=\"lazy\" img-data-caption=\"(Spectrum News NY1)\" img-data-wrap-text=\"true\" img-data-editing=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>(Spectrum News NY1)<\/p>\n<p>There is Barbara Eden\u2019s wedding dress from \u201cI Dream of Jeannie.\u201d Outfits from \u201cMiami Vice,\u201d \u201cSeinfeld,\u201d \u201cThe Office\u201d and, of course, the long-running \u201cLaw and Order SVU.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two stars of SVU stopped by Paley to check out the exhibit and talk about being part of NBC\u2019s history. Corey Cott plays Detective Jake Griffin on the show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe overwhelming amount of TV shows that I have watched with my family, from NBC Sports to \u2018The Office\u2019 to \u2018Friends\u2019 to \u2018Cheers,\u2019\u00a0 it\u2019s just cool to be a part of that legacy,\u201d Cott said.<\/p>\n<p>Aim\u00e9 Donna Kelly portrays Captain Renee Curry on SVU, and had her own story of NBC\u2019s impact even before she was on television.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA story that my mom loves to tell is that the family, they were huge fans of \u2018Cheers\u2019 when I was born, and I took my first steps to the \u2018Cheers\u2019 opening song,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition runs through the 100th anniversary of that first broadcast, closing after Nov. 20.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paleycenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Plan your visit here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It was nearly a century ago: Nov. 15, 1926.
