Oh, and don&#8217;t just assume the ordinary-looking vehicle next to you isn&#8217;t watching.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/troopers.ny.gov\/news\/state-police-announce-start-fall-safe-speed-traffic-enforcement\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The New York State Police<\/a> have announced a six-day \u201cFall Safe Speed\u201d enforcement campaign, running Tuesday, September 22nd through Sunday, September 27th.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/attachment-ny-state-police-pulled-over.jpg\" alt=\"New York State Police Facebook page\" loading=\"lazy\" onload=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('frame-loaded');\" onerror=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('broken-image');\" fetchpriority=\"low\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\"\/>New York State Police Facebook pageNew York State Police Facebook pageWho Are They Targeting?<\/p>\n<p>During the crackdown, Troopers will target speeding and aggressive driving, as well as distracted and impaired driving, seat belt violations, and motorists who fail to follow <a href=\"https:\/\/troopers.ny.gov\/move-over-law\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York&#8217;s Move Over Law.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Police say the increased enforcement is for a serious reason.<\/p>\n<p>Speed is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one-third of fatal crashes in New York. According to data cited by State Police, 315 fatal crashes and 12,232 injuries in New York in 2024 were speed-related.<\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s what drivers should know: not every State Police vehicle involved will look like a traditional marked cruiser.<\/p>\n<p>Read More: <a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/wgna.com\/toys-r-us-announces-ny-news\/?utm_source=tsmclip&amp;utm_medium=referral\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toys R Us Standalone Stores Are Making a Big Comeback in New York<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NYSP May Be Getting Tricky to Catch You<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/troopers.ny.gov\/news\/state-police-announce-start-fall-safe-speed-traffic-enforcement\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">According to NYSP,<\/a> Troopers will use both marked vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement (CITE) vehicles during the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>State Police say <a href=\"https:\/\/wgna.com\/police-using-unmarked-cite-cars-to-catch-heavy-footed-ny-drivers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CITE<\/a> vehicles blend into everyday traffic, making it easier for Troopers to spot violations. Once they activate their emergency lights, however, they&#8217;re clearly identifiable as emergency vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers say they&#8217;ll actively patrol highways throughout the six-day campaign, in addition to their normal year-round enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>So whether you&#8217;re on the Northway, Thruway, or your regular Capital Region commute, take it easy.
