HARRISON, N.J. (September 22, 2026) \u2013\u00a0Red Bull New York II have signed Red Bulls Academy defender Joshua Munson to a two-and-a-half-year MLS NEXT Pro contract through the 2028-29 season, which goes into effect on January 1, 2027, the club announced today. Munson will join the first team as a Homegrown Player for the 2029-30 MLS season with options for the 2030-31 and 2031-32 seasons.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have been very happy with Josh\u2019s development since he initially joined the club as a player in our Academy system,\u201d said Technical Director Tiger Fitzpatrick. \u201cHis desire and commitment to achieve the dream of a professional playing career is being rewarded with this next step and we are excited to continue working with him to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 17-year-old made his MLS NEXT Pro debut on May 30, starting against Carolina Core FC at Truist Point Stadium. Munson scored his first career MLS NEXT Pro goal in a 5-0 victory against Toronto FC II on June 21 at MSU Soccer Park.<\/p>\n
Overall, Munson has appeared in 14 matches this season, logging 826 minutes.<\/p>\n
Recently, the defender was called into the U-17 USYNT training camp during the September\/October window, marking his first international call-up at any level.<\/p>\n
Munson joined the Red Bulls Academy in 2024. Prior to joining the club, the 17-year-old was a part of the Michigan Jaguars.<\/p>\n
