{"id":353995,"date":"2026-09-22T22:44:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T22:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/353995\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T22:44:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T22:44:09","slug":"buffalo-common-council-on-data-center-moratorium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/353995\/","title":{"rendered":"Buffalo Common Council on data center moratorium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Buffalo Common Council members are moving forward with a proposed two-year moratorium on new data centers and cryptocurrency facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Councilmember Joseph Golombek says the goal is to give the city time to update its zoning rules before more facilities are developed.<\/p>\n<p>He also says Buffalo needs to make sure future projects don\u2019t put additional strain on neighborhood infrastructure, including water and sewer systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would also like to see a way that we do some sort of an agreement with the data centers,\u201d said Golombek. \u201cWhen they come in, they\u2019re going to be making an awful lot of money.
