Mayor Zohran Mamdani renewed his call for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be arrested for war crimes and accused him of visiting a \u201cgenocide\u201d on Palestinians<\/a> just days before the leader is to speak at the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to Benjamin Netanyahu, I have described him as I believe him to be \u2014 a war criminal and an architect of a horrific genocide of the Palestinian people,\u201d the mayor told CNN after a cordial meeting with President Trump at Gracie Mansion Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI do believe that that is something that should be honored, because what we want to see, and we\u2019ve been talking about this today, is a faith in our politics, a faith in accountability,\u201d Mamdani said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the International Criminal Court deems someone worthy of an arrest because of a violation of those laws, then who are we to say that anyone should be above that? And I think very clearly that everyone should be held accountable to it,\u201d Mamdani said.<\/p>\n

The mayor\u2019s remarks come amid his attempt to walk back his July statement urging protesters to take to the streets while Netanyahu is in town for the high-stakes UN meeting if he wasn\u2019t arrested, a call to action he now claims he never made.<\/p>\n

Mamdani has admitted he lacks the power to arrest Netanyahu himself as mayor of New York City despite his campaign pledges.<\/p>\n

Israel\u2019s UN Ambassador Danny Denon told The Post Friday that the mayor is \u201cclever\u201d<\/a> but can\u2019t simply call for protests and the arrest of a world leader and then pretend it never happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s very clever, but you cannot set the fire, then say this,\u201d Danon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mayor has called for demonstrations. So we don\u2019t know what to expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a searing response, Netanyahu vowed to \u201ctell the truth\u201d to the world about the anti-Israel Big Apple mayor, whom he accused of supporting Hamas terrorists.<\/p>\n

\u201cShame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews,\u201d the Israeli prime minister said in a video message posted to social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m coming to the UN.
