Convicted sex pest Harvey Weinstein<\/a> begged for \u201cmercy\u201d as he was sentenced in a Manhattan courtroom Wednesday to 15 years in prison \u2014 as prosecutors revealed his plot to pay a podcaster $1.75 million in advance of his latest trial to smear his victims.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not a perfect person. I am a person who has made mistakes,\u201d the decrepit 74-year-old told Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Curtis Farber before learning his fate on his 2025 conviction of criminal sex act in the first degree for sexually assaulting former TV production assistant Miriam \u201cMimi\u201d Haley.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really do have remorse for Miriam Haley,\u201d claimed Weinstein, who was rolled into court in a wheelchair and who his lawyers called \u201ca very sick man\u201d who has been wasting away on Rikers Island.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not a violent man. I ask for mercy,\u201d the former Miramax boss pleaded.<\/p>\n

Farber sentenced Weinstein to 15 years in lockup \u2014 where the disgraced Hollywood mogul could die behind bars \u2014 after prosecutors said they had recordings of him offering a podcaster $1.75m to release videos of witnesses \u201cto contaminate the jury pool and to reach the jurors before and after the trial.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Nicole Blumberg did not identify the podcaster, but Candace Owens released a podcast series in 2025 called \u201cHarvey Speaks,\u201d which featured videos of Weinstein at Rikers<\/p>\n

The ex-Miramax boss had faced up to 25 years in prison on the guilty count \u2014 but Manhattan prosecutors had signaled that they were seeking a sentence of 20 years in prison for the \u201csignificant harms\u201d that Weinstein\u2019s action caused Haley.<\/p>\n

Weinstein\u2019s long-awaited sentence comes nearly six years after he was first tried in 2020 during the height of the #MeToo movement,<\/p>\n

At that trial, Weinstein was convicted of third-degree rape<\/a> for sexually assaulting actress Jessica Mann inside Midtown\u2019s DoubleTree hotel on March 18, 2013.<\/p>\n

But Weinstein\u2019s conviction was then overturned by New York\u2019s highest appeals court, and a new trial was ordered.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors had Weinstein wheeled back into court for his second trial in 2025 \u2014 where a new accuser, Kaja Sokola, alleged that she too had been sexually assaulted by the perpetual perv twice when she was in her teens.<\/p>\n

A dysfunctional jury \u2014 which had sparred with each other during tense deliberations \u2014 convicted Weinstein again of raping Haley and acquitted Weinstein on the Sokola rap.<\/p>\n

But they were deadlocked on whether to convict him of the sex attack on Mann, which forced the judge to rule a mistrial before prosecutors decided to try the case for a third time.<\/p>\n

In May, the third trial<\/a> ended with a hung jury after they couldn\u2019t reach a unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors toyed with the idea of going to trial for a fourth time \u2014 but Mann opted not to go through the grueling process of testifying again.<\/p>\n

Weinstein was given a TK sentence by Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Curtis Farber following his 2025 sex crimes conviction when a jury convicted him of first-degree criminal sex act for assaulting Miriam \u201cMimi\u201d Haley in 2025. Steven Hirsch for NY Post<\/p>\n

Haley is just one of 80 women who have accused the disgraced producer of sexual assault and misconduct.<\/p>\n

After seeing other women share their similar experiences online during the height of the #MeToo movement, Haley said she felt inspired to come forward with her story.<\/p>\n

Weinstein has been rotting behind bars at Rikers Island, where he\u2019s constantly complained about his ailing health and conditions at the city\u2019s notorious jail.<\/p>\n
