{"id":354879,"date":"2026-09-23T18:56:18","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T18:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/354879\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T18:56:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T18:56:18","slug":"andy-karl-to-star-in-a-christmas-carol-off-broadway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/354879\/","title":{"rendered":"Andy Karl to star in &#8216;A Christmas Carol&#8217; off Broadway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/venues\/pac-nyc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC)<\/a> has set initial casting for its second annual production of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/show\/18743-a-christmas-carol\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A Christmas Carol<\/a> off Broadway, returning for the holiday season from November 20 to January 3.<\/p>\n<p>Three-time Tony Award nominee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/stars-on-stage\/andy-karl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Karl<\/a> (Rocky, Groundhog Day, On the Twentieth Century) leads the company as Ebenezer Scrooge. Additional casting for A Christmas Carol has yet to be named.<\/p>\n<p>A Christmas Carol takes place on Christmas Eve, when four ghosts visit Scrooge and urge him to change his miserly ways. This version of Charles Dickens&#8217;s classic story is adapted by Jack Thorne (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/show\/13709-harry-potter-and-the-cursed-child-tickets\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Potter and the Cursed Child<\/a>) and directed by Matthew Warchus, and it features classic Christmas songs like \u201cJoy to the World,\u201d \u201cSilent Night,\u201d and \u201cIt<br \/>\nCame Upon the Midnight Clear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their production of A Christmas Carol premiered at the Old Vic Theatre in London in 2017, and this will mark its 10th consecutive holiday season on stage.
