{"id":355085,"date":"2026-09-23T22:48:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T22:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/355085\/"},"modified":"2026-09-23T22:48:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T22:48:07","slug":"public-comment-on-new-yorks-nuclear-policy-options-paper-ends-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/355085\/","title":{"rendered":"Public comment on New York\u2019s \u2018nuclear policy options paper\u2019 ends soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The deadline for New Yorkers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyserda.ny.gov\/All-Programs\/Advanced-Nuclear-Energy\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">to comment on the<\/a> state\u2019s \u201cnuclear policy options paper\u201d is Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, Governor Kathy Hochul set a goal of bringing back nuclear energy to create a zero-emissions electricity system.<\/p>\n<p>The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the New York State Department of Public Service developed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyserda.ny.gov\/All-Programs\/Advanced-Nuclear-Energy\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the policy options paper.<\/a> It will be part of the state\u2019s \u201cMaster Plan for Responsible Advanced Nuclear Development in New York\u201d. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Local municipalities were invited to submit their interest in becoming a site for a nuclear facility. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nypa.gov\/News\/Press-Releases\/2026\/20260107-solicitations\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Schuyler and Broome counties<\/a> were two of eight places that applied for consideration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The deadline for New Yorkers to comment on the state\u2019s \u201cnuclear policy options paper\u201d is Thursday.
