New York City\u2019s Open Data<\/a> portal of complaints made to 311 in each Staten Island ZIP code over a seven-day period, from Sept. 14 and Sept. 20, and a 30-day period from, Aug. 22 to Sept. 21. <\/p>\nThe data showed the 10302 ZIP code, which encompasses the Port Richmond and Elm Park neighborhoods, experienced a 29% increase in daily complaints over a seven-day period ending on Sept. 20, compared to earlier weeks.<\/p>\n
While 10302 logged 718 complaints over the past month, nearly one-third of those complaints \u2014 202 complaints total \u2014 were filed during the most recent week alone, according to the data. <\/p>\n
Based on the ZIP code complaint rate during the prior three weeks, the city would have expected about 157 complaints during that weeklong period. This means that complaints were 29% higher in the most recent week than expected, and residents in 10302 filed complaints at a faster rate than they had been just a few weeks earlier.<\/p>\n
The most complaints recently filed by 10302 were regarding illegal parking, according to the data. There were 1,436 illegal parking complaints in the last 30 days, including 329 complaints in the last seven days.<\/p>\n
New York City residents can file a service request to the city to provide help, perform an inspection or address a problem. Service requests via 311 can be accepted for a wide range of issues, including pothole repairs, heating issues and more.<\/p>\n
