As Morales finally made his way into the NYCHA apartment building where he would eventually hole himself up, Zamot came face-to-face with him in the elevator \u2014 and the nutjob chillingly acted as if nothing had happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter one individual got off on the third floor, he [Morales] got off on the eleventh. And as he leaves, he looks at me and he says, \u2018Have a great day,\u2019\u201d recalled Zamot, who said all he could do was \u201clook at him in total amazement.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zamot had the wherewithal to make note of Morales\u2019 apartment number and alerted the NYPD \u2013 who, after a nearly hour-long standoff, were able to yank the lunatic out of the apartment and arrest him.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The married father of three said he\u2019s been pretty quiet about his role stepping in helping catch Morales, saying \u201cmy mother only found out today.\u201d <\/p>\n
Since his arrest, investigators uncovered evidence showing Morales holds\u00a0antisemitic views, according to prosecutors.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the brave father of three said he\u2019s been pretty low key about his role.<\/p>\n

When asked why he went to such lengths to help stop Morales, Zamot said: \u201cOne way or the other, he wasn\u2019t gonna be able to do this to anybody else\u2019s child. Because that\u2019s how I see it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the rally, the good Samaritan urged New Yorkers to \u201cbe the thing that hate crimes cannot operate around.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
His act of heroism was rewarded with heartfelt praise from his biggest admirer, Moshe Grunhaus, who thanked \u201cmy hero in brown uniform.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNew York City is a safer place because of you. New York City is a better place because of you,\u201d Grunhaus said in a prerecorded message to a visibly emotional Zamot. <\/p>\n
