Reflecting the extraordinary diversity of the borough it calls home, Queens\u00a0Theatre is launching a 2026\u20132027 season that brings cultures,\u00a0traditions\u00a0and artists from around the world to\u00a0the heart of Queens, with tickets now on sale. Featuring a robust mix of Latin music and dance, jazz, theatre,\u00a0family programming, global traditions, and cultural celebrations, the new season also marks a renewed effort\u00a0to deepen Queens Theatre\u2019s connection with the communities it serves while keeping live performing arts\u00a0accessible and affordable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cQueens Theatre exists to serve this community, and this season is a true reflection of our mission,\u201d said\u00a0Julia del Palacio, Executive Director of Queens Theatre. \u201cQueens is one of the most diverse places in the\u00a0world, and we want the people who live here to see themselves, their cultures, and their experiences\u00a0represented on our stages.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 2026\u20132027 season opens in October with a lineup designed to reflect the extraordinary diversity of\u00a0Queens, bringing together\u00a0established\u00a0artists, emerging voices and performances spanning cultures,\u00a0traditions\u00a0and genres. From Latin music and jazz to global dance, family entertainment and cultural celebrations, the\u00a0season offers audiences of all ages and backgrounds opportunities to see something familiar, discover\u00a0something new and find something for them at Queens Theatre.\u00a0Highlights include Colombian twin sisters Las \u00c1\u00f1ez; Calpulli Mexican Dance Company\u2019s D\u00eda de\u00a0Muertos; Xiomara\u00a0Laugart: Tribute to Celia Cruz; international entertainer Charo; illusionist VITALY: An\u00a0Evening of Wonders; and The Monkey King: A Kung Fu Musical, presented in celebration of Lunar New\u00a0Year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jazz takes on an expanded presence at Queens Theatre this season, with performances by Allan\u00a0Harris, Tammy McCann, and Jumaane Smith, among others. Harris brings The Poetry of Jazz as part of the\u00a0\u201cJazz is @ Queens Theatre\u201d series, while McCann celebrates some of the genre\u2019s most influential women\u00a0with The Legendary Ladies of Jazz and will feature special guest David O\u2019Rourke, long-time guitarist of the\u00a0late Cassandra Wilson. Jumaane Smith brings the sounds of New Orleans to the stage with Sweet Baby!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dance programming similarly reaches across cultures and traditions, from Calpulli Mexican Dance\u00a0Company\u2019s D\u00eda de Muertos celebration, to Darrah Carr Dance\u2019s Irish-inspired St. Patrick\u2019s Day\u00a0performances, to the powerful rhythms of San Jose Taiko, which blends the powerful, traditional art\u00a0of\u00a0kumidaiko\u00a0(ensemble drumming) with contemporary rhythms like jazz, Afro-Cuban, and rock.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Theatre continues to take center stage with Queens Theatre\u2019s New Play Development program, which this\u00a0year will feature stories about Queens. Now 25 years old, New Play Development presents free public\u00a0readings by emerging playwrights, and invites audiences into the creative process through talkbacks,\u00a0building\u00a0on\u00a0a history of more than 200 readings, workshops, and productions. Titan Theatre Company returns to\u00a0Queens Theatre with Thornton Wilder\u2019s \u201cOur Town\u201d opening this fall. Other readings and productions by\u00a0local companies will be added to the calendar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Family programming also\u00a0remains\u00a0a major part of the season, with several Rock and Roll\u00a0Playhouse performances created especially for young audiences, along with\u00a0Lightwire\u00a0Dino-Light, which\u00a0brings dinosaurs to life through electroluminescent artistry and imaginative storytelling.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cultural celebrations are woven throughout the calendar, including programming recognizing D\u00eda de\u00a0Muertos, Lunar New Year, Mardi Gras, Dominican Independence Day, St. Patrick\u2019s Day, Valentine\u2019s Day\u00a0Special\u00a0featuring\u00a0Uptown Royalty, Liza & Willie, the Cherry Blossom Festival, and Mother\u2019s Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition, Queens Theatre\u2019s B-Side Series will further expand opportunities for audiences and artists to\u00a0connect through free, multidisciplinary open-stage programming. Designed to make the community part of\u00a0the artistic experience rather than simply an audience for it, the series creates an inclusive space for people of\u00a0all abilities and experience levels to\u00a0participate, share their creativity, and engage in artistic expression. The\u00a0B-Side Series is sponsored, in part, by\u00a0NewYork-Presbyterian Queens.\u00a0\u201cWe want someone who has never walked through our doors before to look at this season and feel like there\u00a0is something here for them,\u201d said Julia del Palacio. \u201cWhether it\u2019s the music they grew up with, a tradition\u00a0their family celebrates, or an artist they\u2019re discovering for the first time, we want audiences to see themselves\u00a0reflected on our stages.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
