On Tuesday, hundreds of New Yorkers picketed outside New York City<\/a> hospital NYU Langone Health<\/a> to protest a deal it struck<\/a> with the Trump administration. Under the deal, the hospital will pay the federal government $8.5 million and keep its gender-affirming care services closed to transgender<\/a> minors, solidifying a policy it enacted in February<\/a> amid pressure from the administration.<\/p>\n

NYU Langone is one of at least six hospitals<\/a> in the United States to make such deals, including Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. Family members of trans youth and LGBTQ+<\/a> advocates say the network of health care resources for trans youth has been shrinking rapidly on both the city and federal levels.<\/p>\n

The Advocate attended Tuesday’s protest and captured 11 photos of trans New Yorkers, LGBTQ+ activists and their allies in action.<\/p>\n
