Following a game in which Igor Shesterkin played two periods and looked pretty good, the Rangers are going to be starting Joonas Korpisalo in this one. The new goalie of New York is expected to play<\/a> the entire game, which could be the main indication that he is going to be the primary backup to Shesterkin.\u00a0<\/p>\n If that ends up being the case, it will be interesting to see what the plan will be for Dylan Garand. The talented young goalie would have to hit waivers to go back to the AHL, and there is certainly a possibility that a team would grab him.\u00a0<\/p>\n However, there is the possibility that the Rangers will elect to carry three goalies. That wouldn\u2019t be the best thing for Garand\u2019s development, but the team would at least be able to keep him and bide their time for a decision.\u00a0<\/p>\n Furthermore, while all eyes are on the goalie situation, this will also be the second game for the talented Alberts Smits. He will be playing alongside Scott Morrow on the blueline.\u00a0<\/p>\n Coming off his first game in which he was able to record an assist on a beautiful pass, it will be interesting to see what he can do in an expanded role.\u00a0<\/p>\n
