{"id":356372,"date":"2026-09-25T03:38:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T03:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/356372\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T03:38:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T03:38:52","slug":"brooklyn-man-accused-of-running-terror-support-network-arrested-a-decade-after-fleeing-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/356372\/","title":{"rendered":"Brooklyn man accused of running terror support network arrested a decade after fleeing country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man accused of running a financial support network out of Brooklyn that raised airfare for would-be terrorists was <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NewYorkFBI\/status\/2103135844064276635?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">arrested more than a decade after he fled the country<\/a>, officials said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Davud Ansariy, 41, was extradited to the U.S. following his capture last month in Tbilisi, Georgia. He fled the country on a flight to Turkey in May 2016, five days after a co-conspirator was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-edny\/pr\/uzbek-national-extradited-united-states-face-charges-providing-material-support\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">arrested for the scheme to fund terrorism abroad<\/a>, according to U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than a decade ago, the defendant fled the United States in an effort to evade justice for his extremely serious crimes,\u201d Nocella said. \u201cThe defendant facilitated an expansive network that sought to finance the travel of foreign fighters to wage violent jihad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnsariy will now face justice for his actions in a United States courtroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ansariy led a group of radicals called \u201cchayxona,\u201d an Uzbek word that translates to \u201ctea house\u201d or \u201ctea party.\u201d Based in Brooklyn, the group raised money to support the families of men who fought for ISIS and Al-Nusrah Front, in addition to funding the travel of at least three individuals, who were killed fighting for terrorist groups in Syria, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>Among Ansari\u2019s beneficiaries was Akhror Saidakhmetov, who was provided \u201ctea party\u201d money to travel from Brooklyn to Istanbul, Turkey, to \u201cwage violent jihad,\u201d court documents show.
