Now you can \u2014 for free!\u201d Mayor Zohran Mamdani said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FckhbDho1rE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">video<\/a> released Thursday morning announcing a new, long-term partnership with the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center. Beginning this month, a monthly lottery will release 10,000 free tickets to people who have never attended the Met. This season\u2019s performances include \u201cMacbeth,\u201d \u201cLincoln in the Bardo\u201d and \u201cLa Boh\u00e8me.\u201d New York City residents only can enter the ticket lottery at <a href=\"http:\/\/on.nyc.gov\/opera\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">on.nyc.gov\/opera<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArt should not be reserved for those who can afford it,\u201d Mamdani said. \u201cEvery New Yorker should have the opportunity to sit in these seats, hear these voices and experience this stage, no matter what\u2019s in their bank account.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani joined Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su and New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Diya Vij to announce the program, called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.metopera.org\/app\/opera-for-all\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Opera for All<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An hour after the program was announced, 54,000 people had joined a queue on the ticket website.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2730\u2730\u2730<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brooklyneagle.com\/whats-news-breaking\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wnb-read-more aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1790315309_72_read-more-wnb-shad-1024x341.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"341\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"CITYWIDE \u2014 \u201cNEVER BEEN to the opera before?
