{"id":356578,"date":"2026-09-25T10:22:28","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T10:22:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/356578\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T10:22:28","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T10:22:28","slug":"mamdani-to-join-nyc-broadcast-of-jimmy-kimmel-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/356578\/","title":{"rendered":"Mamdani to join NYC broadcast of &#8216;Jimmy Kimmel Live!&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will be in the guest seat next week for a special Big Apple broadcast of ABC\u2019s \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!,\u201d the network announced Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>For one show, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/02\/us-news\/mamdanis-200-strong-influencer-army-revealed-blurring-lines-between-campaign-and-job\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">social media-savvy Mamdani<\/a> will join lefty host Jimmy Kimmel for his eighth-annual stint at the Brooklyn Academy of Music\u2019s Howard Gilman Opera House from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2.<\/p>\n<p>Hizzoner will be one of several high-profile actors, politicians and musicians to grace Kimmel\u2019s stage for the broadcast in front of a live studio audience \u2014 including fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/23\/us-news\/dems-beg-trump-to-work-with-xi-jinping-on-slowing-ai-as-bernie-unveils-bill-to-ban-superintelligence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">socialist firebrand, Sen. Getty Images for Empire State Realty Trust<\/p>\n<p>Other guests lined up for the five-day stretch of shows at BAM are Mahershala Ali, Paul McCartney, Robby Hoffman, Billy Crystal, Pete Davidson, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Morello, Howard Stern and fellow talk show hosts Seth Meyers and John Oliver.<\/p>\n<p>Musical acts De La Soul, Goose, TV On The Radio, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello will also hit the stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/09\/media\/jimmy-kimmel-targets-fcc-chair-brendan-carr-as-late-night-show-expected-to-end-in-2027\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">celebrated its 4000th episode earlier this month<\/a>, taking aim at Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr after a return from a summer break.<\/p>\n<p>The lefty host \u2014 who frequently jabs at President Trump and other Republicans \u2014 referenced his show\u2019s brief suspension and ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/13\/media\/fcc-chair-brendan-carr-has-no-regrets-over-intense-jimmy-kimmel-controversy-last-year\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">clash with Carr in 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kimmel was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/25\/media\/bob-iger-breaks-silence-on-disneys-suspension-of-jimmy-kimmel-over-charlie-kirk-comments\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">briefly suspended by Disney<\/a>\u00a0after he made controversial remarks about the assassination of Charlie Kirk that sparked outrage \u2014 and ABC said the show would be preempted indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.79980469;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"40983395\" width=\"472\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/35-p-m-et-features-142420348.jpg\" alt=\"Jimmy Kimmel smiling in a suit and striped tie.\" class=\"wp-image-40983395\"\/>Kimmel\u2019s show will broadcast from the Brooklyn Academy of Music\u2019s Howard Gilman Opera House from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. Disney via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>He returned to the air days later and insisted he never intended to make light of Kirk\u2019s death.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Months later, Kimmel found himself in hot water again when an <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/28\/us-news\/jimmy-kimmel-repeats-hateful-joke-about-melania-trump-in-attempt-to-defend-himself\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cexpectant widow\u201d joke about first lady\u00a0Melania Trump<\/a>\u00a0went viral on social media after another assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJimmy Kimmel Live\u201d airs every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC.
