Arielle Jacobs<\/a> will return to the stage for the first time post-vocal injury for a special performance following a screening of the original 1950\u00a0Sunset Boulevard<\/a>\u00a0film at New York City’s United Palace September 28.<\/p>\n

The bilingual Broadway Collective is presenting the pre-show for the screening of Billy Wilder<\/a>‘s cinema classic, which will kick off the evening with Jacobs performing “As If We Never Said Goodbye,” the famed\u00a0ballad from Andrew Lloyd Webber<\/a>‘s musical adaptation of the film.\u00a0Also slated to perform is\u00a0Luis E. Mora and\u00a0instrumentalist James Teal.<\/p>\n

The evening will mark Jacobs’ first time performing onstage following a serious vocal injury, which required surgery and several months of healing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis song is really emotional for me to sing…I had an exposed blood vessel which meant that I was at a 50% risk of re-injury every time I sang.” said Jacobs in a statement.\u00a0“Following a successful surgery and months of healing, this is the first time I can stand in front of an audience and it\u2019ll be as if we never said goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jacobs has performed in a number of acclaimed Broadway shows, including\u00a0Here Lies Love<\/a>, In the Heights<\/a>, Wicked<\/a>,\u00a0and\u00a0Aladdin<\/a>.\u00a0She originated the role of Delilah in the new musical\u00a0Between the Lines,\u00a0which debuted Off-Broadway in 2022 ahead of filmed version that’s streaming on Prime Video.<\/p>\n
