{"id":356789,"date":"2026-09-25T15:55:06","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T15:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/356789\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T15:55:06","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T15:55:06","slug":"powerful-noreaster-storm-track-shifts-closer-to-nyc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/356789\/","title":{"rendered":"Powerful Nor\u2019Easter Storm Track Shifts Closer To NYC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK CITY \u2014 A powerful nor&#8217;easter has shifted closer to the New York City area and is expected to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds and widespread coastal flooding.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest National Weather Service briefing, the storm is moving up the coast and will bring significant flooding near the city&#8217;s shorelines during high tide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-subscribe\">\n  <a class=\"article-subscribe-link\" href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-york\/new-york-city\/subscribe?utm_source=amp&amp;utm_campaign=subscribe&amp;utm_medium=mobile&amp;utm_term=subscribe_in_article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Subscribe<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Sunday for the New York City area.<\/p>\n<p>The New York City Department of Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory for the city from Friday through Sunday. <\/p>\n<p>The agency is warning New Yorkers of flooding of streets, highways and underpasses during the storm. There is a possibility of up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level in shorelines area. <\/p>\n<p>Rainfall could total between 1 and 1.5 inches, with wind gusts possibly reaching as high as 40 mph late Friday into Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>See below for the latest forecast from the National Weather Service. <\/p>\n<p>Friday night: A chance of rain before 11pm, then a chance of showers between 11pm and 2am, then rain likely after 2am.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday: <\/p>\n<p>Rain likely before 8am, then showers likely between 8am and 11am, then rain after 11am. Wind gusts as high as 45 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday night: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 60. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday: High near 66. Breezy, with a north wind 21 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday night: A 70 percent chance of showers.
