(WBNG) &#8212; Governor Kathy Hochul announced the kickoff of the \u201cNY State of Cider\u201d campaign on Friday, with the goal of promoting agricultural tourism and highlighting local cider producers across the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The initiative achieves an objective set in the governor\u2019s 2026 State of the State address to increase tourism, help small businesses and support New York\u2019s agricultural industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLet\u2019s raise a glass and toast New York\u2019s cider producers,\u201d Hochul said. \u201cOur world-class apple growers, innovative cider makers and vibrant rural communities have made New York a leader in hard cider production.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">As part of the effort, the New York Cider Association is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbnb.com\/e\/nycider\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.airbnb.com\/e\/nycider\">teaming up with Airbnb<\/a> to launch a digital travel guide. It will showcase five designated cider regions, connecting travelers with regional stays, orchards, dining spots and outdoor attractions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The campaign looks to tap into an increasing demand for rural escapes, with Airbnb reporting that 86% of travelers are interested in visiting rural communities and nearly two-thirds stay within 300 miles of home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">New York currently leads the nation in total hard cideries and ranks second in overall apple production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officials say the state\u2019s cider sector generates more than $1.8 billion in annual economic activity while sustaining thousands of local jobs and preserving agricultural land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe NY State of Cider campaign will showcase these assets to residents and visitors from around the country while creating new opportunities for farms, small businesses, restaurants and tourism destinations,\u201d Hochul said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/fall-starts-new-yorks-cider-country-governor-hochul-and-new-york-cider-association-launch-ny\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/fall-starts-new-yorks-cider-country-governor-hochul-and-new-york-cider-association-launch-ny\">Gov.
