{"id":357314,"date":"2026-09-26T02:50:48","date_gmt":"2026-09-26T02:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/357314\/"},"modified":"2026-09-26T02:50:48","modified_gmt":"2026-09-26T02:50:48","slug":"news-12-bronx-choppy-waters-familiar-fears-city-island-braces-for-noreaster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/357314\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Choppy Waters Familiar Fears City Island Braces For Noreaster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Businesses along the City Island waterfront are preparing for strong winds, rough water and possible flooding as a nor\u2019easter moves into the region.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Preparations are already underway at the Lobster House.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cPast couple days I made some preparations, put all the tables set aside, covered all my chairs,\u201d Lobster House manager John Mandarino said.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Mandarino says flooding has been an issue in the area before, including during Superstorm Sandy in 2012.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cThe water came up over here and came down into the parking lot, into the street, and then there was no way for the water to go,\u201d Mandarino said.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Across the bridge, Sea Shore Lounge and Marina manager John Arminio remembers Sandy bringing only minor flooding to his business.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cI only got a little bit of water\u2026 maybe two inches of water in the building. Not even,\u201d Arminio said.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">But it\u2019s not the water he\u2019s concerned about.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cMore so the wind.
