A small group of demonstrators braved the Big Apple\u2019s chilly nor\u2019easter conditions<\/a> Saturday to protest the North American premiere of a controversial documentary at the New York Film Festival about the Gaza War that has been denounced as anti-Israel.<\/p>\n

Peaceful protesters clutching Israeli flags and signs gathered out the front of Lincoln Center in Columbus Circle as \u201cNAZA\u201d \u2014 a documentary that has been blasted by Israel supporters for using anonymous sources to make claims about the IDF\u2019s actions against Palestinians \u2014 premiered in New York City.<\/p>\n

\u201cHistory cannot be altered,\u201d Noa Peri-Jensch of the Israeli-American Council (IAC) told The Post.\u00a0\u201cThere are parts of history that happened on October 7th that have been ignored in the film.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe movie is trying to portray the IDF or Israel as a group of people who are trying to make systematic killing, which couldn\u2019t be further from the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peri-Jensch demanded that \u201cpeople who make documentaries need to do it in a responsible way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to bring all voices. We need to show the truth, and not spread lies,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The film, made by \u00a0Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor in conjunction with The Guardian newspaper<\/a>, makes claims that the Israeli military would have a code for how many civilians would die in airstrikes, NAZA, and quotes an anonymous source saying that killing Palestinians with AI was \u201cinsanely fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

It has been hailed by some around the world and got a 24-minute ovation at the Venice Film Festival, where it premiered. <\/p>\n

The Guardian admits that \u201cthe film features interviews with 24 members of Israeli intelligence and military, granted on the condition of anonymity,\u201d a fact that has gotten it denounced as lies by members of the Israeli government.<\/p>\n

Shalev Biton, 27, who survived the horrific attack at Nova Festival, agrees \u201cNAZA\u201d is misleading and divisive.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am here to show that this thing happened to both of the sides. I was affected,\u201d Biton told The Post at the protest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not against any criticism on us as a state, as Israel, and against the idea from inside Israel or outside Israel. But there is a way to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Biton got choked up as one of the trucks stopped in front of him showing footage of \u201cpeople who I know\u201d that \u201cdied in the Nova Festival.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s never easy to see the footage but in this context, people should see that,\u201d Biton said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, New York resident David Cohen, 55, issued a warning to the documentary makers.<\/p>\n

\u201cShow the film, no problem, but understand the circumstances,\u201d Cohen said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a horrible situation but what we stand for is important,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re supporting Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n
