THE BRONX (WABC) — No. 2 train service has resumed with delays after a fire at the terminal station in the Bronx.<\/p>\n
No. 2 service was briefly halted between Gun Hill Rd and Wakefield-241 St while FDNY responded to the fire.<\/p>\n
Cellphone and Citizen app video showed flames shooting from the station.<\/p>\n
Anaiyah Glover, who was on her way to work aboard a northbound No. 2 train approaching the station, described her reaction.<\/p>\n
“I was worried. I was running, I just ran. I was like, I have asthma. I’m not trying to, you know, lose my life,” Glover said.<\/p>\n
MTA officials said the fire has been extinguished and there are no injuries.<\/p>\n
“There were no injuries. Although it was a highly visible conflagration and, as I said, the safety operation of New York City Transit is now investigating the cause of that fire. But I emphasize, it’s been extinguished, no injuries,” MTA Chair Janno Lieber said.<\/p>\n
No. 2 trains are now running in both directions.<\/p>\n
