The powerful nor\u2019easter that has flooded streets across New York City and multiple states<\/a> and sent trees crashing to the ground is expected to continue Sunday, with strong winds and heavy rains continuing through the day.<\/p>\n

The storm is expected to bring heavy winds<\/a> until noon Sunday and a coastal flooding warning remains in effect in New York City, New Jersey and surrounding areas until 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

One death has been linked to the storm so far \u2014 56-year-old Leighton Brown, a NYCHA worker killed by a falling tree<\/a> around 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cypress Hills Houses in East New York, Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

As of 9 a.m. Sunday, the city Parks Department has gotten 1,273 service requests for damaged or fallen trees, 511 of which are for downed trees, though many of those reports may be duplicates, a Parks spokesman said.<\/p>\n

The storm has dumped about an inch of rain on Central Park over 12 hours. Impacts to air travel remain minimal at the city\u2019s airports, with 17 flight delays and two cancellations combined at John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports, according to FlightAware.com.<\/a><\/p>\n

The city\u2019s subways so far have seen little impact, though a Q train was delayed by a fallen tree, and Metro-North experienced some delays outside the city.<\/p>\n

Con Edison reported 1,849 of its customers without power across the five boroughs, with the bulk of the outages in Queens.<\/p>\n

Gov. Hochul declared a state of emergency in advance of the storm.
