Central Hudson crews are working to restore power as the region feels the effects of the nor’easter.<\/p>\n
Thousands of people were still without power as of mid-day Sunday.<\/p>\n
At its peak, Central Hudson says the outages affected more than 19,000 homes.<\/p>\n
They are hoping to get the power back for a majority of the affected areas by Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
The worst hit areas were in Ulster County, particularly in\u00a0Woodstock, Shawangunk, Plattekill and Hurley.<\/p>\n
Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday declared a state of emergency on Friday for Long Island, New York City and Westchester County.\u00a0The storm is expected to last through Monday.<\/p>\n
The storm is expected to bring high winds and heavy rains and knock out power to thousands in New York City and Long Island.<\/p>\n
Upstate is not expected to see that big of an impact. The Capital Region and Hudson Valley will see some rain and wind from this storm, but it’s not expected to rise to any severe levels.<\/p>\n
Despite upstate not being heavily impacted, the state is monitoring the storm from the state capital.<\/p>\n
“We’re here at the state-of-the-art State Emergency Operations Center in Albany,\u201d Hochul said. \u201cThis is the nerve center for any storm, big storm response. I was here probably last during a major snow event.
