Sometimes people look for larger homes because their families are growing. However, interior designer Sydney Moss<\/a> (of Sydney Moss Designs<\/a>) and her partner, Joseph Loonam (plus their cat, Nala, and dog, Percy), were looking for a bigger space to share with fewer people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The couple met at an artist collective in Brooklyn\u2019s Clinton Hill neighborhood. Sydney, who also posts on TikTok<\/a>, had been living there for two-and-a-half years, and Joe had lived there a year before they started considering alternatives. Joe\u2019s friend\u2019s parents owned a\u00a0one-bedroom rental apartment in Bay Ridge, New York, and they decided to check it out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe apartment was beautiful \u2014 a bay window in the living room, original trim, cove ceilings, the floors had just been redone \u2014 but honestly, the idea of having a kitchen that we didn\u2019t have to share with 12 other people is what sold us,\u201d Sydney explained at the time Apartment Therapy first published this house tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sydney admitted that it was a \u201cbit of a bachelor pad\u201d before the couple moved in, but luckily she was attending Parsons School of Design and majoring in interior design at the time. \u201cI had renders and floor plans made before we even signed the lease,\u201d she said. Sydney said mapping out their new space served as \u201cgood practice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since moving into the home (which Sydney estimates was built initially between the 1910s and 1920s) four years ago, they\u2019ve definitely made their mark on the space. Namely, the living room is covered in hand-painted flowers and murals. But that\u2019s just one of the gorgeous projects.\u00a0<\/p>\n
