As the weekend nor\u2019easter comes to a close, the National Weather Service said lingering rain and wind could cause minor flooding into Monday evening.<\/p>\n
According to NWS Meteorologist Bryan Ramsey, New Yorkers should expect light rain Monday but the city will be drying up throughout the week after.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u200aWe have the system still lingering in the area,\u201d Ramsey said. \u201cIt is far weaker than it was before, but you’ll continue to see drizzle to light rain chances continue into the day \u2026 \u200aAny lingering impacts would be a couple spots where we could see some more minor flood benchmarks being hit for coastal flooding.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ramsey said that would align with the Monday morning to afternoon high-tide cycle on the city\u2019s beachfronts.<\/p>\n
While New York City experienced high winds and heavy rain over the weekend, the National Weather Service reported a greater concentration of downed trees and structures on Long Island. The agency also said there was moderate to major coastal flooding conditions on Long Island that left two to three feet of inundation in certain areas.<\/p>\n
New York City\u2019s Emergency Management Department said the storm brought \u201cwidespread\u201d rain, wind gusts of over 50 mph and major levels of floodwater around Jamaica Bay.
