STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 When driving on Staten Island, it\u2019s important to be ready for anything. At any given moment, another driver can do something completely unexpected and almost cause a crash.<\/p>\n
One Staten Island driver saw this happen first-hand as their dash cam recently caught a near-collision in New Dorp.<\/p>\n
The footage, submitted to the Advance\/SILive.com, shows a vehicle approaching an all-way stop at the intersection of Tysens Lane and Cranford Avenue during the evening rush hour on Tuesday, Oct. 21.<\/p>\n
A white sedan can be seen waiting for its turn at the all-way stop \u2014 blocking the crosswalk \u2014 while the dash cam-equipped vehicle approaches the intersection.<\/p>\n
After the white sedan turns, the driver of the camera-equipped car begins to drive into the intersection, believing it to be their turn.<\/p>\n
Then, without warning, an older Subaru wagon quickly follows the turning white sedan, causing the driver with the dash cam to brake suddenly.<\/p>\n
After turning wide to seemingly avoid another vehicle that is entering the intersection, the Subaru quickly swerves out of the way of a parked car and continues down Tysens Lane, heading toward Amboy Road.<\/p>\n
