The event will feature food and drinks from the city\u2019s top culinary names, along with live and silent auctions and live entertainment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The evening will be inspired by the 1960\u2019s, with a mod-style atmosphere celebrating the food, fashion and culture of the era.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Geoffrey Zakarian, one of the chefs participating in the event, told Brooklyn Paper that BID offers New York\u2019s culinary community a chance to come together around a cause that extends beyond the restaurant industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-249439\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/250417_CityHarvest_AstoriaMrkt_0298.jpg\" alt=\"City Harvest\" width=\"638\" height=\"425\"  \/>The organization delivered more than 36 million pounds of food to 116 food pantries, soup kitchens, Mobile Markets and community partners in Brooklyn alone in 2025.Photo courtesy of City Harvest<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBID is one of those rare nights when New York\u2019s culinary community truly comes together for a shared purpose,\u201d he said. \u201cYou have some of the city\u2019s most talented chefs and restaurants all under one roof, giving their time and talent to support City Harvest. There is an incredible energy in the room, but what makes it so meaningful is knowing that while we\u2019re celebrating New York\u2019s extraordinary food culture, we\u2019re also helping make sure our neighbors have food on their tables.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That need is particularly pressing as food insecurity continues to affect New Yorkers across the five boroughs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Gregory Boroff, City Harvest\u2019s chief external relations officer, one in five New Yorkers is experiencing food insecurity, including one in four children. Last year, the organization delivered more than 36 million pounds of food to 116 food pantries, soup kitchens, Mobile Markets and community partners in Brooklyn alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-249441\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/251028_CityHarvest_BID_1254.jpg\" alt=\"City Harvest\" width=\"674\" height=\"449\"  \/>\u201cBID 2026: Peace, Love &amp; City Harvest\u201d will take place Oct. 28 at The Glasshouse in Manhattan.Photo by Lori Cannava<\/p>\n<p>This year, City Harvest plans to rescue and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/ny-giants-ezeudu-tredway-city-harvest-turkey-distribution-coney-island\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">deliver<\/a> 100 million pounds of food across the five boroughs \u2014 an 11% increase from last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCity Harvest\u2019s impact in Brooklyn, and throughout all five boroughs, is tremendous,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cThey rescue high-quality food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it free of charge to food pantries, soup kitchens, community partners and Mobile Markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For Zakarian, the event also underscores the role restaurants and chefs can play in addressing food insecurity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-249440\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/12132024_PF_City_Harvest_Sunset_Park_Mobile_Market_07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\"  \/>This year, City Harvest plans to rescue and deliver 100 million pounds of food across the five boroughs.Photo courtesy of City Harvest<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs chefs, food is at the center of everything we do, so I believe we have a responsibility to use our platform to help people who don\u2019t have reliable access to it,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s why City Harvest has always been so important to me and to New York\u2019s restaurant community. BID is a fantastic night, but ultimately it\u2019s about what happens after the event \u2014 the meals and support that the funds raised help provide to New Yorkers who need them most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>City Harvest said this year\u2019s event comes as New Yorkers continue to face affordability challenges and changes to federal food assistance programs.
