Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThere\u2019s a little bit of retail history hiding at the top of the Woolworth Building in Lower <a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/tag\/manhattan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_manhattan\" data-tag=\"manhattan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manhattan<\/a>. The 40th floor was once the personal retreat and executive office of F.W. Woolworth, founder of the five-and-dime empire that helped reshape American shopping. Today, it\u2019s a private residence spanning more than 6,000 square feet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe landmarked neo-Gothic building on Park Place was commissioned by Woolworth and completed in 1913. At the time, it was the tallest building in the world, and Woolworth\u2019s corporate headquarters occupied much of the tower. The business eventually became part of what is now Foot Locker, but the Woolworth name is still attached to one of New York\u2019s most well-known skyscrapers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/shelter\/homes-for-sale\/116-east-70-street-nyc-townhouse-lists-1238644263\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/shelter\/homes-for-sale\/116-east-70-street-nyc-townhouse-lists-1238644263\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">RELATED: Inside a $22.5 Million N.Y.C. The dining room can accommodate more than 20 people, and the kitchen has custom Dada cabinetry, Calacatta Caldia marble, and Miele appliances.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/robbreport.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-robbreport-2017-v2\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2-Park-Pl_Residence-40_6.jpg\" alt=\"2 Park Place Residence 40\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"800\" width=\"1200\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tThe kitchen has white cabinetry, a large island, and views of the building\u2019s Neo-Gothic facade.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOleg Davidoff<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEach of the four bedrooms has a private bathroom, with the corner primary suite offering city and river views, along with a large dressing room and a marble bathroom with heated floors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe building was designed by architect Cass Gilbert, and its terra-cotta exterior and Gothic details are still a big part of what makes it recognizable. The upper floors were later converted into 33 residences by Alchemy Properties, with the late architect Thierry W. Residents also have access to the Gilbert Lounge, named for the building\u2019s original architect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Woolworth Building has had its share of notable residents and cameos over the years.
