{"id":360220,"date":"2026-09-29T23:20:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T23:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/360220\/"},"modified":"2026-09-29T23:20:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T23:20:09","slug":"news-12-brooklyn-man-pleads-not-guilty-in-deadly-bronx-deli-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/360220\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Brooklyn | Man Pleads Not Guilty In Deadly Bronx Deli Shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Jesus Acosta pleaded not guilty Tuesday in connection with a  <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/man-dead-after-being-shot-in-chest-during-gunpoint-robbery-inside-bronx-deli\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">deadly shooting of a customer<\/a> in the Bronx that sparked a dayslong manhunt across New York City in August.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The 31-year-old appeared in Bronx Criminal Court, where he appeared shaky at times and was seen repeatedly shaking his head as prosecutors laid out the case against him.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Acosta is charged with murder in connection with the deadly shooting and robbery at 149 Grill &amp; Deli in the Bronx.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Prosecutors say Acosta opened fire inside the bodega, killing a 33-year-old employee. He is accused of taking money from the cash register and property from the victim before leaving the store.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Acosta is also accused in a separate deadly shooting at a <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/brooklyn.news12.com\/man-killed-another-wounded-in-shooting-inside-brownsville-restaurant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brooklyn restaurant<\/a> days earlier. <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/brooklyn-community-mourns-hearing-news-of-second-fatal-shooting-with-same-gunman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">One man was killed<\/a> and another was wounded in that shooting.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The two shootings sparked a dayslong search for Acosta across the city.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/man-arrested-in-2-nyc-homicides-after-weeklong-manhunt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ultimately found Acosta<\/a> in a Bronx park after receiving an anonymous tip.
