He said the city&#8217;s water system is more than 120 years old and that pipes can rust or fail when under significant pressure.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Nearby residents still had water Tuesday afternoon, but officials said that service would eventually need to be shut off as repairs continue.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The southbound lanes of Central Park Avenue are closed to all traffic between Yonkers Avenue and Boone Street. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Officials expect the road to remain closed through Tuesday evening&#8217;s rush hour and Wednesday morning&#8217;s rush hour while crews determine whether the adjacent sewer line was damaged.
