Kinderhook, NY (WRGB) \u2014 A traffic stop in Columbia County escalated into a police chase before ending with an arrest after a patrol vehicle was hit, New York State Police said.<\/p>\n
On Sept. 29, 2026, at about 1:48 p.m., New York State Police in Chatham attempted to stop a 2024 Volkswagen on Route 9H in Kinderhook for a violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Police said the driver, identified as 50-year-old Angelina Lopez of Lake Wales, Florida, failed to comply, prompting a car chase.<\/p>\n
Police said, the chase continued until the vehicle briefly stopped at the intersection of Route 9 and County Route 19 in Livingston, police said. Authorities said Lopez then tried to flee the scene and hit a New York State Police patrol vehicle with her car.<\/p>\n
Lopez was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal mischief; third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle; two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment; second-degree obstructing governmental administration; resisting arrest; operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs; reckless driving; and numerous additional New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.<\/p>\n
