\n\tAfter occupying fashion and media conversations since its release on Monday, the inaugural men\u2019s style issue of New York<\/a> Magazine<\/a> was toasted properly on Tuesday evening with a celebratory dinner.<\/p>\n

\n\tNew York<\/a>\u2019s editor in chief David Haskell, senior men\u2019s style editor Samuel Hine and editor at large Erik Maza cohosted a dinner at Bistrot Ha on the Lower East Side, with support from Canada Goose. The New York team was joined by the creators behind the issue as well as some of the famous faces in its pages.<\/p>\n

\n\tGuests included Mike Faist, currently making the promotion rounds for the upcoming Netflix adaptation of \u201cEast of Eden;\u201d; stars of the Netflix show \u201cBoots<\/a>\u201d Angus O\u2019Brien and Jack Cameron Kay; actors Isaac Cole Powell<\/a> and Brandon Flynn<\/a>; playwright Jordan Tannahill, and musician Holden Jaffe, known as Del Water Gap. Designers Todd Snyder, Wes Gordon<\/a> and Paul Arnhold were there, as was model Wisdom Kaye, who is featured in the issue; artist and photographer, Ik\u00e9 Ud\u00e9, who photographed Kaye, and photographers Ryan McGinley and stylist Miyako Bellizzi, the duo responsible for the bathhouse-set cover story.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMostly I work for museums \u2014 I don\u2019t do magazines,\u201d Ud\u00e9 said ahead of dinner, flipping through the issue at the bar. \u201cI don\u2019t do fashion photography, it takes me a long time to do one picture; I was a painter before. It takes time to take pictures.\u201d Ud\u00e9, who is currently prepping a show at the MFA Houston for next year, was convinced by New York\u2019s former creative director Jody Quon to take on the project.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe men\u2019s style issue had been in the works at the magazine<\/a> for some time, and was accelerated with the arrival of Hine this spring.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMen\u2019s style and men\u2019s fashion is really interesting to a lot of us at the magazine and to Lindsay [Peoples, from The Cut] and me, and we\u2019ve talked a lot about finding ways to cover it more,\u201d Haskell said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOne thing I like about the issue is that it goes from a very indie young hustler pounding the pavement, making 15 suits a year, all the way to Leo [Dell\u2019Orco] at Armani. And I think that full spectrum of people dedicating their lives and careers to men\u2019s style is really interesting right now journalistically,\u201d he added. \u201cSo let\u2019s just dive into all of that and not worry about existential questions about what a man is and just look at how style is being expressed and evolved.\u201d<\/p>\n
