(Yankees people believe he told confidants to get him here before they traded for him.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He shouldn\u2019t expect a warm reception from Yankee Stadium fans, either.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And maybe there\u2019s a Yankees player or two who took it all personally, too. The word out of the Yankees clubhouse was that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/30\/sports\/chad-tracys-controversial-call-to-pull-payton-tolle-backfired-for-red-sox-in-horrific-fashion-in-game-1-blowout\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Game 1 loser Payton Tolle<\/a> was the toughest Red Sox starter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gray (an MLB-best 18-5 with a 2.72 ERA) actually has been very good everywhere but New York.
