Andrew Cuomo has purchased a consolation mansion. After departing the governorship ignominiously<\/a>, then losing<\/a> last year\u2019s mayoral race to Zohran Mamdani, the former governor reportedly bought a $9.6 million four-acre compound in Remsenburg on Long Island\u2019s South Shore in June, sources told<\/a> the New York Times. (Politico, which first reported<\/a> the purchase, noted that he paid cash for the property through an LLC.)<\/p>\n It\u2019s quite the spread. The main house, a 19th-century hunting lodge, is today a palatial nine-bedroom, nine-and-a-half bath, according to the listing. There\u2019s a library and sunroom with wood-burning fireplaces and a detached five-car garage with hydraulic lifts Cuomo can fill with his collection of muscle cars. Out back, there\u2019s a pool house and a sauna, a gym, a saltwater pool, and 234 feet of waterfront with docks, a beach, and a boathouse. Also, inexplicably, there\u2019s \u201can old-fashioned windmill.\u201d<\/p>\n Rich Azzopardi, Cuomo\u2019s spokesman, told<\/a> the Times the former governor plans to sell the property\u2019s empty lots, presumably for development, but will keep the house for a summer home. He also told the paper Cuomo still has an apartment in Manhattan. (During the mayoral race, he lived in a Sutton Place apartment<\/a> that was once his daughter\u2019s, for which he paid roughly $8,000 in rent<\/a>.)<\/p>\n How did Cuomo make an all-cash purchase of this size? After leaving office, he signed a deal<\/a> in 2022 with the podcasting firm Quake, which reportedly was paying him up to $40,000 a month, but that company quickly imploded. He went on to join the advisory board of Nano Nuclear Energy in 2024, which reportedly brought<\/a> him more than $2.6 million in stock options, and has been advising the offshore crypto exchange OKX on and off since 2023. (Cuomo became<\/a> the co-chair of a joint venture between OKX and the New York Stock Exchange\u2019s parent company in June, and the crypto firm announced<\/a> that he had joined its board of directors in July.) The Times reported<\/a> last year that he earned nearly $5 million from his consulting work in 2024.
