AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Blakeman\u2019s camp has been trying in recent days to get Trump to join him on the campaign trail in areas of the state where <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/29\/us-news\/hochul-has-a-record-breaking-amount-of-campaign-cash-in-final-stretch-of-nys-election-campaign\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul<\/a> appears vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/09\/23\/us-news\/bruce-blakeman-within-single-digits-of-kathy-hochul-in-new-york-governors-race-poll\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Siena College poll had Blakeman trailing his Democratic rival by 9 points<\/a>, a significantly smaller lead than Hochul had on GOP candidate Lee Zeldin in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The poll found Blakeman has shrunk Hochul\u2019s lead to just a few percentage points in upstate New York., with the two neck-and-neck at 47-44.<\/p>\n<p>But another poll from Quinnipiac University found Hochul maintaining a commanding lead over Blakeman, 58% to 39%.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"41090688\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/bruce-blakeman-nassau-county-executive-143338246.jpg\" alt=\"Bruce Blakeman speaks at a podium with Donald Trump standing beside him, in front of a crowd of police officers.\" class=\"wp-image-41090688\"\/>Trump will be joining Blakeman for a campaign event in Syracuse next week.
