{"id":362164,"date":"2026-10-01T20:42:15","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T20:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/362164\/"},"modified":"2026-10-01T20:42:15","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T20:42:15","slug":"man-arrested-in-fatal-stabbing-of-subway-rider-in-queens-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/362164\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested in fatal stabbing of subway rider in Queens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK (1010 WINS) &#8212; A Bronx man was arrested Wednesday night, hours after he allegedly stabbed another man to death at a subway station in Queens, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, Mesias Lojano, 59, was stabbed at the Woodhaven Boulevard station in Woodhaven around 5:20 p.m. after an argument on a J train spilled out onto the platform, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Lojano was stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife and pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>Following a manhunt, NYPD officers tracked down the suspect, Jyrell Thomas, 25, to a nearby rooftop, where he was taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Thomas is emotionally disturbed and was undergoing a psychological evaluation. He faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.<\/p>\n<p>A witness who spoke with ABC 7 described hearing the suspect express remorse after the attack. &#8220;He was saying he was sorry, that he didn&#8217;t want to do that,&#8221; the witness said.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unclear what the two men were arguing about at the time.
