Kathy Hochul in next month&#8217;s election. A <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/central-ny\/politics\/2026\/09\/22\/siena-poll--hochul-s-lead-over-blakeman-sees-little-change-among-likely-voters\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent Siena University poll<\/a> shows him trailing Hochul by 9 points, although a\u00a0Quinnipiac University poll released on the same day had Hochul up by 19 points.<\/p>\n<p>Trump stumped for <a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/news\/2026\/08\/14\/trump-to-appear-with-gop-candidate-for-n-y--governor-on-long-island\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blakeman in Garden City<\/a> on Long Island in August.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s a friend of mine for a long time, a great political leader, a great politician,&#8221; the president said during the August visit.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first time Trump has visited Syracuse while in office.
