CNY Central<\/p>\n<p>Jaw-dropping footage then showed several residents rescuing one of the fugitives by lifting him down from the roof as he hung from a ledge of the house.<\/p>\n<p>When the suspect was safely down, other neighbors ushered him toward the street, the footage shows.<\/p>\n<p>Both suspects on the roof then appeared to escape in waiting cars, the station reported.<\/p>\n<p>The incident began at about 3:30 p.m., when the men drove by a local school, Charles E. Riley Elementary School,\u00a0got out of their vehicle and\u00a0scaled scaffolding onto the roof of a home, according to Oswego Mayor Robert Corradino.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:2.47941889;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"41094659\" width=\"1024\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/oswego-n-y-seven-hours-143354614.jpg\" alt=\"Onlookers watch as a police officer stands outside a home during a standoff.\" class=\"wp-image-41094659\"\/>A mob confronted law enforcement officers and even members of the media at the standoff between Border Patrol and the fugitives. CNY Central<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/tag\/us-customs-and-border-protection\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Border Patrol<\/a> had a federal warrant for the two men\u2019s arrest, though their charges were not immediately clear Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today, Charles E. Riley Elementary School was placed under a lockout as a precaution while law enforcement investigated activity in the surrounding neighborhood. Following the investigation, the Oswego City Police Department determined it was safe to lift the lockout, and students were dismissed safely,\u201d the Oswego City School District said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>During the standoff, some people in the crowd threw clothing over a camera lens used by one of CN Central\u2019s reporters and demanded that the crew stop recording, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Staff from another TV station were also accosted by people in the crowd.
