{"id":362338,"date":"2026-10-02T00:12:51","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T00:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/362338\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T00:12:51","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T00:12:51","slug":"motorcyclist-45-killed-in-crash-with-subaru-outback-driver-in-bronx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/362338\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorcyclist, 45, killed in crash with Subaru Outback driver in Bronx"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/07\/02\/motorcyclist-killed-queens-crash-turning-box-truck\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">motorcyclist was killed<\/a> in a crash with the driver of a 2018 Subaru Outback in the Bronx early Thursday morning, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>Douglas Smith, 45, was riding his 2007 Honda motorcycle at a high rate of speed, heading north on Broadway in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/06\/26\/girl-raped-bronx-creep-followed-bus-dragged-park\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">North Riverdale<\/a>, when he struck a Subaru heading the same direction as the car driver turned left onto W. 261st St. from the right lane around 1 a.m., police said.<\/p>\n<p>Smith, who was riding in the left lane, was ejected from the bike and hit the pavement, suffering severe injuries, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Medics rushed him to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbhny.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St. Barnabas Hospital<\/a>, where he died.<\/p>\n<p>Smith lived in Yonkers.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old Subaru driver remained on the scene.
