Investigators said two suspects approached the detective on e-bikes before the stabbing.<\/p>\n<p>The detective was stabbed or slashed multiple times in the neck and leg, according to law enforcement sources cited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/10\/02\/us-news\/off-duty-nypd-cop-stabbed-in-neck-leg-during-nyc-robbery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">New York Post<\/a>. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and was in stable condition, according to the NYPD and sources cited by the Post.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the suspects fled the scene on e-bikes. No arrests were immediately announced, and it was not immediately clear whether anything was stolen.<\/p>\n<p>The detective is assigned to the NYPD\u2019s 44th Precinct and joined the department in July 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch visited, or were en route to visit, the detective at the hospital.
