NORWOOD, The Bronx (PIX11) \u2014 An off-duty NYPD detective was stabbed multiple times in the Bronx on Friday, according to police.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around 1:48 p.m. near East 208th Street\u00a0and Rochambeau Avenue, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n

The stabbing occurred during an attempted robbery and the NYPD is looking for multiple suspects, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs our brother detective recovers from injuries sustained during an off-duty robbery in the Bronx, the DEA stands firmly by his side. The perpetrators may think they got away, but they didn\u2019t count on the full force of NYPD detectives searching for them,\u201d read a statement from the Detectives Endownment Association. \u201cThere\u2019s nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. This union will not stop until those responsible are held accountable \u2013 for our brother in blue and all New Yorkers.\u201d <\/p>\n

The union reported that the atteackers fled on an e-bike after attacking the officer.<\/p>\n

The off-duty detective was sent to a local hospital in stable condition, according to police.<\/p>\n
