Trendy streetwear label Supreme<\/a> has cut a deal with New York City to sell shirts and other merchandise emblazoned with city-owned trademarks.<\/p>\n

The agreement allows the clothing brand \u2014 loved by Justin Bieber, Madonna and other top celebs \u2014 to use trademarks such as \u201cMade in NY\u201d and \u201cNYPD\u201d on items they sell through 2028, according to a legal ad posted <\/a>online.<\/p>\n

Under the \u201cnon-exclusive\u201d contract with NYC Tourism + Conventions, Supreme agreed to pay the city 6% of its net profits from items sold using city logos and a lump sum of $22,000. The city\u2019s nonprofit marketing and tourism arm also has the option to extend the pact through 2030.<\/p>\n

Supreme has already begun hawking items like zip-up DSNY hoodies <\/a>promoting city sanitation workers and baseball caps emblazoned with the FDNY logo. The DSNY hoodies fetch $188 a pop while the FNDY caps run $58 each. <\/a><\/p>\n

Customers at the label\u2019s flagship store on the Bowery in Manhattan hailed the partnership last Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople want to represent New York,\u201d said Katherine Donnelly, a first-time Supreme shopper who works for the city\u2019s Department of Design and Construction.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith designs like these logos, what would make it cool would be the specificness of New York. Like if you go somewhere else repping it, people know you\u2019re buying from this store.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Will Guartan, a frequent Supreme shopper, said the Fire Department hats and DSNY \u201ccollab\u201d were so hot they quickly sold out.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne hundred percent! People are drawn to New York City merch,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Julian Eversley, a retail worker at Supreme, said the company is betting the Big Apple brand will be lucrative \u2013 and lead to great products for customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it would be sick if they go about it in the right way,\u201d Eversley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupreme is like a New York brand, and they kind of trailed away from that a little bit. It\u2019d be cool to see something that\u2019s like very New York-based.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alyssa Schmid, a NYC Tourism + Conventions<\/a> spokesperson, said it \u201cwelcome[s] partnerships with brands who want to support New York City trademarks,\u201d which also includes Nike<\/a> and J. Crew.<\/p>\n

The New York Post has also partnered with Supreme \u2014 both in 2018 and again in August \u2014 by twice running limited-edition wraparound cover advertisements promoting the streetwear brand.
